Voices of Mississippi is a new multimedia event celebrating the music, art, and storytelling traditions of the people of Mississippi. Based on the 2019 double-Grammy Award–winning Voices of Mississippi: Artists and Musicians Documented by William Ferris, the program features live musical performances by a broad range of Mississippi's authentic blues and gospel musicians—including Cedric Burnside and Luther and Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi All Stars— integrated with film, audio recordings, spoken-word storytelling, and rare photographs captured by historian and folklorist William Ferris.

The Riley Mulherkar Big Band returns to The Appel Room with an exclusive new program exploring the wild sides of Chicago and Kansas City during the 1920s and 1930s. The show will feature live musical performances of songs by Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, and many more, with narration by a special guest actor and an original script by five-time Emmy Award winner Geoffrey Ward.
