New York, NY (January 7, 2014) - The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis performs its first family concert of the year: Jazz For Young People® Family Concert: Who is Dave Brubeck? at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater on February 8 at 1pm and 3pm. Jazz at Lincoln Center is located at Broadway at 60th St., New York, New York.

Jazz For Young People Family Concert: Who is Dave Brubeck?, designed for families with school age children, celebrates the music of legendary pianist and composer Dave Brubeck whose rendition of “Take Five” is still an instantly recognizable hit single. When his sons (also professional musicians) were young, Brubeck used a variety of approaches to instruct them. Among these, he disguised himself as a mustached, absent-minded alter ego by the name of Professor Nooseknocker.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) brings forth two decades of experience in presenting interactive, amusing, family-friendly shows and will introduce and illuminate Brubeck's extraordinary life to young and old alike.

Tickets for Jazz For Young People in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Allen Room, located at Broadway at 60th Street, New York, NY, start at $45. Tickets can be purchased through jazz.org 24 hours a day or CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 10am to 9pm. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor. Box Office hours: Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain) and Sunday from noon to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain).

Jazz For Young People Family Concert: Who Is Dave Brubeck will stream live in high-definition audio and video for free to a global audience via new.livestream.com/jazz.  The concerts will also be available on Livestream’s mobile and connected TV applications with real-time DVR, chat, photos and other materials available for fans worldwide.

On April 10-12, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dave Brubeck Festival will celebrate the pianist-composer's incomparable contributions to jazz, culture, and more with concerts in The Allen Room and Rose Theater, a photography exhibit and free listening party. Two concerts by the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis will feature fresh arrangements that illuminate the breadth and scope of Brubeck’s body of work in Rose Theater on April 10-12. Pianist Peter Martin will also lead the first-ever New York staging of Dave Brubeck's rarely-heard masterwork, The Real Ambassadors, addressing the still-topical civil rights movement on April 11-12 in The Allen Room.
