Rosa Passos with Special Guest Kenny Barron in First Time Collaboration
ROSA PASSOS WITH SPECIAL GUEST KENNY BARRON
IN FIRST TIME COLLABORATION
JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER’S THE APPEL ROOM
DECEMBER 9-10, 7PM and 9:30PM
New York, NY (October 19, 2016) Iconic Brazilian vocalist and guitarist Rosa Passos makes her long-awaited return to the United States for a special appearance at Jazz at Lincoln Center's The Appel Room on December 9-10 at 7pm and 9:30pm. Passos' performance, a living iteration of bossa nova, will include her first time collaboration with nine-time GRAMMY Award nominee and one of today's most important jazz pianists, Kenny Barron. In their first ever performance together, Passos and Barron will impress not only Brazilian jazz fans and lovers of the Jobim songbook, but also classic jazz fans who appreciate a swinging rhythm section, masterful solos, and effortlessly captivating vocals.
Passos' guitar playing and singing has earned her the reputation as the female counterpart to João Gilberto. Her Jazz at Lincoln Center appearance in 2008 was called "spellbinding" by the New York Times. On Kenny Barron's masterful performances, Financial Times says the NEA Jazz Master's "clear melodies draw you in. Clear structures and a wealth of detail keep you engaged."
Rosa Passos with Special Guest Kenny Barron will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center's The Appel Room at Frederick P. Rose Hall, located at Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
