Featuring Aaron Goldberg, Gregory Hutchinson, and
Reuben Rogers

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Allen Room on February 7-8

New York, NY – January 7, 2014 – Whether the instrument in question is the tenor or soprano saxophone, Joshua Redman, now entering his third decade as a professional improviser, is as individualistic a voice as his generation has produced. On February 7 and 8 in The Allen Room, Redman showcases his extraordinary tone, and his penchant for creating elegant melodies within challenging structures and infusing them with emotional content.

Propelling the flow and detailing the nuances are his working quartet—pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson, each a partner of long-standing. Reviewing the quartet’s recent performance at Symphony Center, The Chicago Tribune's Howard Reich noted that Redman makes music that is both "high art" and a joy for the crowd, concluding that the set was “all about substance rather than flash, a sure indication of the respect the saxophonist showed his audience."
