Jazz at Lincoln Center Named an Official Charity Partner of the 2016 United Airlines NYC Half Set for Sunday, March 20

New York, NY — January 27, 2016— Jazz at Lincoln Center was named an Official Charity Partner of the 2016 United Airlines NYC Half, the organization announced today. The race will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

The opportunity to partner with the United Airlines NYC Half gives Jazz at Lincoln Center the ability to raise funds and awareness for the organization’s mission: to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education and advocacy.

Over five million dollars was raised by more than 2,800 charity runners during the 2015 United Airlines NYC Half to help more than 100 nonprofit organizations support their missions and services. Approximately 120 official charity partners will be part of the 2016 United Airlines NYC Half.

Participants who run on behalf of Jazz at Lincoln Center will receive the following benefits:

•             Guaranteed spot in the race

•             Personalized Crowdrise fundraising page

•             Jazz at Lincoln Center Straight Ahead ($75 value) membership

•             Jazz t-shirt

•             The top fundraiser will receive two tickets to a Jazz at Lincoln Center concert and reception, including a meet and greet with the artist(s).

•             The second highest fundraiser will receive two complimentary covers and dinner at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola.

Each runner is asked to raise a minimum of $1,250. Limited spots are available. Individuals interested in participating are asked to contact Jazz at Lincoln Center Special Events at specialevents@jazz.org or 212-258-9980.

From its first downbeat as a summer concert series at Lincoln Center in 1987, to the fully orchestrated achievement of opening the world’s first venue designed specifically for jazz in 2004, Jazz at Lincoln Center has celebrated this music and these landmarks with an ever-growing audience of jazz fans from around the world.  Representing the totality of jazz music, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s mission is carried out through four elements – educational, curatorial, archival and ceremonial – capturing, in unparalleled scope, the full spectrum of the jazz experience.

“We welcome Jazz at Lincoln Center as an official charity partner of the 2016 United Airlines NYC Half,” said Michael Capiraso, president and CEO of New York Road Runners. “We are privileged to partner with approximately 120 official charity partners for this event, impacting thousands in need of support for so many significant causes. Our charity runners are an inspirational and integral part of this race and we applaud their efforts and the positive impact they each make.”

The United Airlines NYC Half features some of the most talented American and international professional athlete fields and a vast range of competitive, recreational, and charity runners.  Some 1,500 volunteers and thousands of spectators line the course in support of all participants. 19,454 finishers completed the 2015 United Airlines NYC Half from nearly all of the 50 states and more than 67 countries. For the first time ever, the NYRR Times Square Kids’ Run at the United Airlines NYC Half gave hundreds of kids the opportunity to participate in a race of their own as they completed a 1500-meter out-and-back course through the heart of New York City.

The 2016 United Airlines NYC Half will be broadcast live locally on WABC-TV, Channel 7 for the fifth consecutive year.
