Michael Feinstein returns with the ninth consecutive Jazz & Popular Song series in the Appel Room

New York, NY (March 21, 2019) - Jazz at Lincoln Center’s fan-favorite concert series, Jazz & Popular Song series now in its ninth consecutive season, returns with three unique concerts in April through June, led by Michael Feinstein, also known as the “Ambassador of the Great American Songbook” - Caught Between the Moon and New York City: Songs of Peter Allen (April 10-11), Great American Crooners (May 15-16), and I Could Have Danced All Night: The Lerner & Loewe Songbook (June 5-6). With a roster of special guest vocalists and ensembles led by music director Tedd Firth, Feinstein’s shows invoke the charm and glamour of great Hollywood and Broadway classics.

Dizzy's Club May 2019 Lineup Announced

New York, NY (March 20, 2019) - Performances at Dizzy’s Club in May showcase the burgeoning talent of up-and-coming artists as well as exemplary jazz veterans -- young, New Orleans-bred trombonist and vocalist Jeffery Miller (May 28) makes his Jazz at Lincoln Center headlining debut, while tenor saxophone master Houston Person (May 3-4) leads his own group in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s most intimate venue; he has performed in both The Appel Room and Dizzy’s Club to sold-out audiences. Additional highlights include JLCO trombonist Chris Crenshaw and trumpeter Marcus Printup’s performance with the Georgia Horns sextet (May 31-June 2); master of jazz guitar fundamentals Bruce Forman’s return to New York City featuring bassist Rufus Reid and drummer Matt Wilson (May 2); Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Bill Charlap with his trio featuring bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington (May 14-19; May 21-26); and vocalist Nicole Henry (May 29-30). Following a memorable run at Dizzy’s Club Late Night sessions, alto saxophonist and composer Alexa Tarantino returns to the club for her debut album release party with her quartet (May 28); joining her is pianist Christian Sands, bassist Joe Martin, and drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. The Terraza Big Band (May 13), based at Terraza 7 in Queens, makes their way to Manhattan to celebrate their debut album at Dizzy’s.

Wynton Marsalis and Ken Burns: Country Music

New York, NY (March 14, 2019) - In the exclusive special concert event, Wynton Marsalis and Ken Burns: Country Music, iconic documentarian Ken Burns, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and guests Rhiannon Giddens, Emmylou Harris, and Marty Stuart will explore the shared roots found throughout American music.

Dizzy's Club April 2019 Lineup Announced

New York, NY (March 11, 2019) - During Jazz Appreciation Month, Dizzy’s Club offers 17 unique shows, including opportunities to see members of the esteemed Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in an intimate club - JLCO trombonist Elliot Mason with his brother Brad Mason (April 10-11) in a program celebrating the music of Coltrane, Monk and Ellington; as well as alto saxophonist Sherman Irby with trombonist Vincent Gardner (April 12-14). Additional highlights for the month include the Dizzy’s Club debut of the Tony Award-winning Broadway legend Ben Vereen with members of the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble (April 4-7), as well as the album release party for Yotam Silberstein Quartet featuring John Patitucci (April 2-3). The Yale Jazz Ensemble featuring Randy Brecker and Wayne Escoffery (April 15) honors the 80th anniversary of Blue Note and pianist Monty Alexander brings his trio for a weekend blending jazz and the rhythms of the Caribbean (April 18-21). Dizzy’s Club also hosts the winner of the American Pianists Association Competition (April 16) - the competition finalists are Kenny Banks, Jr., Emmet Cohen, Billy Test, David Meder, and Keelan Dimick. The winner will be announced to the public on April 6.

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2019 Gala “The Birth of Jazz: From Bolden to Armstrong” honors Becky and Art Samberg with Ed Bradley ward for Leadership in jazz, and Ellis Marsalis with award for artistic excellence

New York, NY (March 7, 2019) - Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2019 Gala, “The Birth of Jazz: From Bolden to Armstrong,” will celebrate New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, and support Jazz at Lincoln Center’s mission to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy. This one-night only benefit performance and dinner - a Big Easy party that will romp through a jazz and blues repertoire - takes place on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, 7:00 p.m. at Frederick P. Rose Hall, “The House of Swing,” located at Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
