Dizzy's Club February 2019 Lineup Announced

New York, NY (December 21, 2018) - Dizzy’s Club offers a number of exclusive shows this February, starting with special guest appearances by Wynton Marsalis and the beloved Sesame Street character, Elmo, in Joe Fielder’s Open Sesame (February 4); the only U.S. performance dates for Brussels Jazz Orchestra & Tutu Puoane (February 11-12); and the album release party and ten year celebration of Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom (February 26). In addition, three artists will make their Dizzy’s Club headliner debuts in February - tenor saxophonist María Grand (February 5), pianist John Chin (February 19), and David Binney’s Angelino Quartet (February 21).

Life of a Legend: Carmen de Lavallade The Appel Room, January 24

New York, NY (December 17, 2018) - Dancer, actor, choreographer, and 2017 Kennedy Center Honors recipient Carmen de Lavallade will grace The Appel Room in a special performance titled, Life of a Legend on January 24-25 at 7pm each night. Her groundbreaking performances have inspired artists and audiences for generations and on these this two evenings, Jazz at Lincoln Center will celebrate de Lavallade’s love of both dance and jazz, revisiting the iconic dance works she performed with the most legendary musicians in jazz history.

New York, NY (December 13, 2018) - For one night only, Wadada Leo Smith will perform his visionary suite, America’s National Parks, for the first time in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Appel Room on January 26 at 7pm and 9:30pm. Dizzy’s Club January 2019 Lineup Announced

New York, NY (December 10, 2018) - Dizzy’s Club kicks off the new year with a stellar lineup showcasing the next generation of jazz stars as well as the music’s most respected artists. Featured performers for the month include trumpeter/vocalist Jumaane Smith (January 3) sharing reimagined renditions of classics by Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, and Louis Jordan; alto saxophonist Patrick Bartley (January 4) celebrating the music of Cannonball Adderley; Christian Sands (January 5-6) presenting two original programs, first with the Christian Sands Quartet and then with the High Wire Trio showcasing the music of Erroll Garner; Ben Paterson, Rina Yamazaki, and Isaiah J. Thompson (January 14)- the winners of the 2018 Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition; the Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble with guest pianist Sullivan Fortner (January 16); vocalist Tatiana Eva-Marie (January 22) celebrating the iconic Django Reinhardt and his brand of hot jazz; and Shenel Johns (January 30) honoring American icons Dianne Reeves, Diana Ross, and Dinah Shore, conducted and arranged by David Gibson for 17-piece orchestra.
