Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola June 2017 Lineup Announced
New York, NY (April 18, 2017) - Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola kicks off the month of June with The Monk Festival, June 1-4, with Light Blue: Gabe Schnider and Friends Celebrate Monk (June 1) and Monk’s Dream: Russell Hall Plays Monk (June 2-4), followed by programs that exemplify the endless diversity of jazz. Highlights include Paul Nedzela Quartet (June 6), Samora Pinderhughes’ Transformations Suite (June 12), Peter and Will Anderson Quintet: Joe Temperley Tribute CD Release (June 13), The Kurt Elling Quintet (June 23-24), and Black Arts Jazz Collective (June 27-28).

Jazz at Lincoln Center Celebrates Thelonious Monk Centennial: The Monk Festival, June 1-4
New York, NY (April 11, 2017) - Jazz at Lincoln Center will celebrate the centennial of genius composer and pianist Thelonious Monk with fourteen performances in all three venues in Frederick P. Rose Hall, dedicated to his jazz legacy as part of the Monk Festival, June 1-4, 2017. With an artist roster than spans the generations and the globe, the performances will exemplify Thelonious Monk’s truly universal influence. The global exploration of Monk features the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, along with Pakistani flutist Baqir Abbas and Brazilian instrumentalist Hamilton de Holanda as guest artists in Rose Theater, June 1-3. In The Appel Room, June 2-3, Monk’s music will be performed by two young pianists of the next generation of jazz: 13-year old piano prodigy Joey Alexander and New Orleans’ Sullivan Fortner, recipient of the 2015 American Pianist Association’s prestigious Cole Porter Fellow in Jazz honor. Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola will continue to highlight Monk’s influence for the next generation of musicians with Light Blue: Gabe Schnider and Friends Celebrate Monk and Monk’s Dream: Russell Hall Plays Monk.
