2017 Grammy Award Nominees
Branford Marsalis Quartet with Kurt Elling

Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater,
January 20-21, 8pm

Branford Marsalis and Kurt Elling featuring Joey Calderazzo, Eric Revis and Justin Faulkner

New York, NY (December 12, 2016) - Jazz at Lincoln Center brings together an unprecedented collaboration featuring the Branford Marsalis Quartet and Grammy Award winning vocalist Kurt Elling in Rose Theater on January 20-21 at 8pm. This special performance is the group's only New York City performance and follows Marsalis and Elling's recent Grammy Award nomination in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category for the debut release of Upward Spiral (Marsalis Music). The band will perform selections from the album, featuring fresh arrangements of Songbook staples, jazz standards, and standards-to-be from a diverse array of composers. This new artistic alliance promises to be an unforgettable showcase of both instrumental and vocal jazz expertise.

Jazz at Lincoln Center is located on Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.

Marsalis and Elling are each celebrated for a wealth of jazz knowledge and stylistic versatility. Elling, a two-time Grammy Award nominee and 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Jazz Vocal Album, has repeatedly proven his prowess for working with star instrumentalists and quartets, recently on the famed collaboration between saxophonist John Coltrane and vocalist Johnny Hartman. Marsalis, too, is a flexible and ambitious artist with two Grammy Award wins for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 1994 and Best Jazz Instrumental Album in 1993. He is best known as a prolific jazz leader and sideman to such icons as Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and Dizzy Gillespie.

Free pre-concert lectures nightly at 7pm.
