Joan Larin was our first and longest standing subscriber. She recently moved upstate due to changes in her health and mobility. Last fall, we went to visit her in Amsterdam, NY to show her that no matter where she is, she'll always have a seat in our house.
Joan exemplifies the soul of our music. We are honored by her decades of dedication to Jazz at Lincoln Center and all she enabled through her participation, presence and commitment.
Our journey to see Joan is simply one example of how we are expanding access to jazz. In the past year, we presented 169 Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performances in 66 cities, over 200 free concert webcasts and 1,000 gigs for jazz musicians. Educational initiatives such as Essentially Ellington and Jazz for Young People on Tour impacted 100,000 students, while 150,000 audience members joined us for a JLCO concert, and 700,000 connected with us online.
