The Appel Room

Veronica Swift

With the Emmet Cohen Trio and special guests

What to expect

  • Rising star vocalist Veronica Swift invites jazz master Sheila Jordan as special guest with the Emmet Cohen Trio.
  • A meeting of classic and contemporary voices.

Singers Over Manhattan presents vocalist Veronica Swift in her Appel Room headlining debut. Only 25 years old, Swift has become one of the top vocalists on the scene, recently working with the likes of Benny Green, Chris Botti, Wynton Marsalis’ small groups, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and pianist Emmet Cohen, who will be leading his trio for this performance.

The daughter of singer Stephanie Nakasian and pianist Hod O’Brien, Swift has lived a life of music. With expansive musical influences, commanding stage presence, and the help of natural perfect pitch, Swift is finding ways to carve out her own identity in the world of jazz and beyond, and she’s just getting started.

Making the evening even more special is the presence of special guest vocalist Sheila Jordan. Now 91 years young, Jordan was often called “the singer with the million-dollar ears” by her personal friend and teacher Charlie Parker. In this year of the Charlie Parker centennial, it will be especially powerful to hear a historic master like Jordan sing with rising star Veronica Swift and the polished young rhythm section of the Emmet Cohen Trio.
