Alexis Cuadrado Presents Shoes

With bassist Alexis Cuadrado, vocalist Kavita Shah, trumpeter Nadje Noordhuis, cellist Amy Kang, pianist Luis Perdomo, and vibraphonist Christos Rafalides, and drummer Shirazette Tinnin.

Barcelona-born bassist Alexis Cuadrado is one of the most sought after musicians in New York. Though he has long been a distinguished sideman, Cuadrado’s output as a composer has also been significant in recent years, showcasing a distinctive voice that combines improvisation with through-composed music that draws on jazz, experimental, and flamenco influences. Tonight’s performance will be the world premiere of Cuadrado’s ambitious new project, a live score to Lois Weber’s iconic 1916 silent film, Shoes. The music will be performed alongside a large display of the silent film, adding a powerful new dimension to a 102-year-old cinematic classic.
