Cristina Pato Quartet

With gaita (Galician babpipes) instrumentalist Cristina Pato, accordionist Julien Labro, bassist Edward Perez, and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli.

“An excellent improviser whose musicality explodes with energy and fire, Pato commanded the stage and roused the audience to a rapturous and rowdy ovation.” – New York Classical Review

Cristina Pato is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and leading virtuoso on the Galician bagpipes (gaita). She has collaborated with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Arturo O’Farril, Paquito D’Rivera, and dancers Damian Woetzel and Lil Buck. She is also an active member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. Her regular quartet, appearing tonight, features accordionist Julien Labro, dubbed “the next accordion star” by the Chicago Tribune; bassist Edward Perez, a commanding instrumentalist across jazz, Latin jazz, and South American music styles; and drummer
Mauricio Zottarelli, a first-call band member in New York City and beyond. Through both live performance and education, Pato is dedicated to cultural exchange and forging new paths for the Galician bagpipes. Join us at Dizzy’s Club for some musical magic unlike anything else you’ve heard.
