Magos Herrera and Brooklyn Rider

With vocalist Magos Herrera and string quartet Brooklyn Rider.

“I’ve seen the future of chamber music and it is Brooklyn Rider." – Strings

“Herrera is stretching the very notion of jazz singing, pushing past the diva pleasantries into a sound that’s bold, thrilling, and effortlessly global.” – NPR

Mexican-born songstress Magos Herrera and the omnivorous string quartet Brooklyn Rider join forces for an unforgettable musical journey, reinterpreting classics from Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Spain, celebrating such luminaries as Octavio Paz, Violeta Parra, Gilberto Gil, Federico García Lorca, Caetano Veloso, and Rubén Darío. For over a decade now, Brooklyn Rider’s endlessly eclectic repertoire and gripping performances have attracted legions of fans and earned rave reviews from classical, world, and rock critics alike. Herrera is regarded as one of the most alluring and expressive vocalists in contemporary Latin American jazz, known for eloquent improvisation and bold vocals. Though she sings in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Herrera is a musician whose expression surpasses both linguistic and artistic boundaries. The debut album from this inspired collaboration, entitled Dreamers, will be released on September 21 on Sony Masterworks.
