Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola

Victor Provost

With steel pannist Victor Provost, pianist and keyboardist Alex Brown, bassist Zach Brown, and drummer Billy Williams.

Steel pan player Victor Provist is a jaw-dropping talent from Washington D.C. The young virtuoso tours with luminaries like NEA Jazz Master Paquito D’Rivera and Dion Parson, and he has received such accolades as Percussionist of the Year by the Washington City Paper—six years in a row. With a strong foundation in bebop and deep roots in Caribbean music, he primarily plays swinging jazz imbued with the unique sound and feel of steel pan as a leading voice. Provost is a key figure in Dion Parson’s ever-popular 21st Century Band, which performs at Dizzy’s Club every summer, but it’s a special treat to present Provost as a leader. Tonight he’ll be joined by his regular band members (including two thirds of Paquito D’Rivera’s rhythm section): drummer Billy Williams, pianist and keyboardist Alex Brown, and bassist Zach Brown.
