The Palladium Era featuring The Mambo Legends Orchestra

Big Band Mondays

With timbales player/co-leader/music director Jose Madera; bongos player/co-leader Johnny Rodriguez; tenor saxophonist/flutist/co-leader Mitch Frohman; alto saxophonists Bobby Porcelli, and Vito Chiavuzzo; tenor saxophonist Peter Brainin; baritone saxophonist Pedro Miranda; trumpeters Kevin Bryan, Anibal Martinez, Pete Nader, and John Walsh; trombonists Sam Burtis, Tokunori Kajiwara, and Jimmy Bosch;  conga player George Degaldo; bassist Gerardo Madera; pianist Zaccai Curtis; and singers Marco Bermudez, and Frankie Vazquez

The former musicians of the legendary Tito Puente Orchestra have come together as the Mambo Legends Orchestra. This incomparable New York institution keeps the 1950s and ‘60s Palladium Era sound alive and well, adding new musical concepts to genre standards set by Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez. Every member of this all-star band is a living master of the music, and they’re led by Johnny Rodriguez, Mitch Frohman, and musical director Jose Madera—each of whom spent over 25 years working with Tito Puente. Start your week on an upbeat with this special Big Band Mondays performance at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola.

This event is part of our 8th annual Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, showcasing some of the top rising stars of jazz alongside some of the artists who have contributed to making this art form what it is today. The Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival runs from September 1–October 1, 2017. View the full line-up here.Did you know?
