Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola

Allyn Johnson Quartet

Flip Side Sessions

With pianist Allyn Johnson, saxophonist Mark Gross, bassist Richie Goods, and drummer Kush Abadey

Dubbed the “King of DC piano” by the Washington City Paper, Allyn Johnson is a respected DC mainstay, and he’s always a welcome addition to the New York scene when he’s in town. In just the last year or so, Johnson has performed at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola with bandleaders Ulysses Owens, Jr., Tim Green, Marcus Printup (of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra), and more. He’s now leading his own single-set performance as part of our Flip Side Sessions series. Johnson’s style ranges from straight-ahead jazz to contemporary gospel and electronic fusion. Tonight, audiences can expect a swinging, acoustic quartet performance.

Allyn Johnson swaps the stage with the Bruce Williams Sextet for the second half of our Flip Side Sessions Tuesday, September 5 at 9:30pm. Learn more here.

Also check out Flip Side Sessions on September 19 with bassists Yasushi Nakamura and Corcoran Holt.

This event is part of our 8th annual Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, showcasing some of the top rising stars of jazz alongside some of the artists who have contributed to making this art form what it is today. The Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival runs from September 1–October 1, 2017. View the full line-up here.
