Patrick Bartley: Bix and Tram-A Retrospective

Presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the New York Hot Jazz Festival

With alto saxophonist/clarinetist Patrick Bartley,Jr., C-melody saxophonist Dan Levinson, cornetist Mike Davis, trombonist Joe McDonough, bass saxophonist Jay Rattman, violinist Benjamin Sutin, guitarist Nick Russo, pianist Dalton Ridenhour, and drummer Jay Lepley

Rising star saxophonist Patrick Bartley is still in his early 20s, but he’s already a Jazz at Lincoln Center favorite. Over the past year, he made several big appearances in The Appel Room, performed at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola alongside drum legend Louis Hayes, and led The Timeless John Coltrane performances during our Miles and ‘Trane Festival. Tonight, he returns to lead a celebration of the seminal recordings of Bix Beiderbecke and Frankie Trumbauer. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the pair recorded landmark versions of tunes like “Singin’ the Blues” and “Georgia On My Mind” that are now recognized as essentials. Join us for one set only as Bartley brings this music to life with authenticity and a hint of modern flair.
