Dizzy's Club

Monday Nights with WBGO: Claudia Acuña

With vocalist Claudia Acuña, pianist and keyboardist Pablo Vergara, bassist John Benitez, guitarist Juancho Herrera, and drummer Yayo Serka

Live webcast and artist interview with WBGO host Rhonda Hamilton will begin at 7:15pm EST on jazz.org/live. WBGO is proud to partner once again with Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola on Monday Nights with WBGO. The series features talented new artists as well as groups from some of the area's great college jazz programs. Each performance is hosted by WBGO announcer Rhonda Hamilton.

Singer-songwriter Claudia Acuña sings primarily in Spanish, but her soulful, crooning alto transcends any language with its powerful sense of freedom and heartfelt emotion. Born in Santiago, Chile, this cognac-voiced siren now lives in New York City, but remains fiercely committed to her rich heritage. While honing her craft in jam sessions, Acuña worked on staff at the Blue Note for almost a decade before headlining the at the famed jazz venue. Now she’s making it big on jazz giant Branford Marsalis’ label, Marsalis Music. Supported by an accomplished and diverse band representing four additional countries, Acuña’s return to Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola should be memorable.
