William Parker In Order To Survive “Extended Breathe Ensemble"

With bassist William Parker, alto saxophonist Rob Brown, tenor saxophonists Kidd Jordan and James Brandon Lewis, saxophonist Daniel Carter, multi-instrumentalist Lee Mixashawn Rozie, trombonist Steve Swell, drummer Hamid Drake, and pianist Dave Burrell

Bronx-born bassist and composer William Parker has long been a key figure in the New York jazz scene and beyond, having recorded over 150 albums and collaborated with top musicians around the world. In recognition of his influence on the creative jazz scene for more than 40 years, he received the prestigious Doris Duke Performing Artist Award in 2013. Tonight’s band is a newly expanded version of his long-running In Order To Survive group, named after the sprawling In Order to Survive recording from 1993. An uninhibited and bold improvisational journey, this performance will challenge and greatly reward adventurous listeners.
