Chico Freeman Plus+tet

“Spoken Into Existence” Album Release

With tenor saxophonist Chico Freeman, drummer Nasheet Waits, pianist Luke Carlos O'Reilly, bassist Kenny Davis, and percussionist Reto Weber

With more than 30 albums as a leader, GRAMMY® Award-nominated saxophonist Chico Freeman has been recording and performing in Europe for the past ten years. With this performance at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, he celebrates his return to the United States, marking his New York homecoming  with the new album Spoken Into Existence.  Drawing together an extraordinary band of close friends and collaborators – pianist Orrin Evans (who comes from the Philadelphia lineage of Kenny Barron, with whom Chico toured for many years), bassist Kenny Davis (who was mentored by Freeman's father, NEA Jazz Master Von Freeman), drummer Nasheet Waits (whose father Freddie Waits played with Chico  Freeman), and innovative percussionist Reto Weber (who has toured Africa, Europe, and South America with Freeman, and is now making his New York debut) – Freeman offers an incredible musical glimpse into his life and art.
