Kush Abadey Quartet

Flip Side Sessions

With pianist Mike King, bassist Joshua Crumbly, tenor saxophonist Matt Marantz, and drummer Kush Abadey

Still in his early 20s, drummer Kush Abadey has been enjoying a fast-paced and eclectic career for years. At age 16, he joined the quintet led by Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Wallace Roney, and he has since worked with artists including Frank Lacy, JD Allen, Terence Blanchard, and David Weiss, contributing to original projects ranging from jazz to rock and electronica. Recent highlights (in a rapidly growing list of accomplishments) include performing for Michelle Obama at the White House and becoming the youngest artist ever selected for the Strathmore Artist-in-Residence program. Abadey is a phenomenal young talent, and we’re excited to have him lead the 9:30pm set, following his father’s performance at 7:30pm.

This event is part of the sixth annual Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, a multi-generational meeting of legendary masters and emerging artists. Download the full schedule here.
