Dizzy's Club

Dan Tepfer/Gary Peacock/Billy Hart

With pianist Dan Tepfer, drummer BIlly Hart, and bassist Gary Peacock

Three astoundingly creative musicians of different backgrounds join for one unforgettable evening. 33-year-old pianist Dan Tepfer is a daring and thoughtful improviser well versed in both jazz and classical music, though his music and artistic ambitions go beyond such genre lines. Joining Tepfer will be drummer Billy Hart and bassist Gary Peacock, two jazz veterans more than twice his age. Hart has performed with some of the most significant jazz musicians of the last 45 years, including Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner, and his flexible and conversational drumming style is an ideal match for Tepfer’s explorative approach. Peacock, too, has worked with numerous jazz icons across styles and is perhaps known best for his decades-long tenure with Keith Jarrett, a gig that more than proves his ability to improvise with an intellectually demanding pianist. Audiences tonight will witness music that is extraordinarily challenging to create, but a shockingly simple pleasure to hear.

This event is part of the sixth annual Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, a multi-generational meeting of legendary masters and emerging artists. Download the full schedule here.
