Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola

The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery

Featuring Calvin Keys and Yotam Silberstein

With guitarists Calvin Keys, Yotam Silberstein, and Andrew Renfroe; Hammond organist/pianist and music director Brian Charette; and drummer Jordan Young

Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola celebrates beloved jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery on what would have been his 92nd birthday.  Montgomery’s one-of-a-kind technique and approach to guitar helped elevate the instrument’s status in jazz and has influenced decades of jazz guitarists, several of which will be represented tonight. Now making waves in the jazz scene, Andrew Renfroe is a recent graduate of the Jackie McLean Institute and Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program. Yotam Silberstein won the coveted “Israeli Jazz Player of The Year” title at the age of 21 and has since performed worldwide, released his debut album, and played with such luminaries as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, and Paquito D’Rivera. Calvin Keys, the veteran of the group, has been on countless acclaimed recordings since the early 1970s, both as a leader and a sideman, with such artists as Ahmad Jamal, Ray Charles, and Bobby Hutcherson. On drums is Jordan Young, a staple performer and educator in New York. Brian Charette, winner for Rising Star: Organ in the 2014 DownBeat Critics’ Poll, serves as Music Director and organist.
