Senior Accountant


The Senior Accountant is responsible for the financial processing and reporting of various monthly accounting transactions, and ensuring accurate, timely posting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  Reporting to the Accounting Manager, he/she will maintain balance sheet accounts and reconcile asset accounts, cash, and other contributed income. Ideal candidates for this position will have demonstrated experience in professional accounting, exhibit a keen attention to detail, and have a strong ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.



  • Manage the tracking, depositing, reporting, and reconciling of all contributed income.

  • Prepare bank reconciliations.

  • Calculate costs of goods sold and keep track of inventory.

  • Track promotional expenditures charged back from third party distributors.

  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income accounts monthly.

  • Review and recognize deferred ticket revenue from ticket sales.

  • Prepare journal entries.

  • Prepare monthly depreciation expense entry and keep track of fixed assets

  • Assist in the preparation of schedules and work papers for the annual audit.

  • In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller, and Accounting Manager, develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure the consistent and proper treatment of financial transactions.

  • Analyze and distribute monthly variance reports to operations personnel.

  • Review monthly results and adjust as required with input from operations personnel.

  • Assist in the preparation of schedules and materials for annual audit and operating budget cycle.

  • Handle other duties and/or projects as required.



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • A minimum of three years’ professional accounting experience required. Previous experience in a non-profit accounting helpful.
  • Exemplary attention to detail, strong, organizational, reporting and general math skills.
  • Must have experience handling monthly/yearly closing of financial records and managing general ledgers and journal entries.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software. Must have the ability to handle, merge and convert large data files between systems.
  • Prior experience with Financial Edge, Tessitura, Paymentech and American Express systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage various priorities and projects in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle financial information with discretion.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships within the Finance department and other departments.
  • Knowledge of or interest in and appreciation of jazz and jazz culture helpful.
