Photo Editor


Every day, hundreds of photos representing our product selection launch on our website. Jazz at Lincoln Center is seeking an in-house photo editor to join our dynamic editing team to create pleasing photos that show details and style as well as fulfill requests for high quality images within tight deadlines.  Occasional shooting may be required.   

The photo editor should be able to readily identify what makes a strong image and he or she must be a creative, innovative thinker with a unique viewpoint.  Mastery in digital photo editing combined with strong problem-solving skills makes the photo editor a key participant in the organization’s efforts to engage individuals and grow and retain an audience of jazz enthusiasts.  


  • Works closely with the Creative Director to fulfill requests for input and relevant imagery for the website and other online platforms. 
  • Responsible for compositing images, batching,  and creating web-ready graphics and montages.
  • Researches and procures photographic imagery from wires, agencies, archival and personal collections.
  • Responsible for visual impact of photo editing and research.
  • Handles color correcting and balancing, cropping, touch-ups and editing.
  • Manages large quantities of files and upload images to server.
  • Obtains and delivers photography as well as accurate credit and caption information on deadline.
  • Works closely with design team to ensure an environment of creative collaboration  and efficiency in production.
  • Assigns and works with freelance photographers as necessary, adheres to assignment budgets and cultivates and maintains contacts with freelance photographers and agencies.
  • Occasionally executes general and special photographic assignments using digital DSLR cameras, including coverage of live performances, rehearsals and special events; editorial or social media content.
  • Completes other relevant assignments as required by supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.
  • High level of proficiency using Photoshop CS5.
  • Extremely good eye for detail and consistency.
  • Excellent composition skills and understanding of product scale.
  • General knowledge of photography and lighting.
  • Experience editing product photography.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with grace under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function as a team player and work collaboratively.
  • High level of motivation, along with an ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Knowledge of or keen interest in and appreciation of jazz helpful.
