Part-Time Development Assistant

 

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s (JALC) Development department is responsible for overseeing fundraising to support the organization’s artistic and educational initiatives. The Development department seeks a dynamic and motivated part-time Assistant with an interest and/or experience in nonprofit fundraising to support the Membership, Research, and Individual Giving teams. Reporting to the Director, Development Operations and Special Projects, s/he will provide administrative support, assist in the stewardship of members, and be involved in ad-hoc projects. Ideal candidates for this position will possess strong communication and writing skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft email marketing and social media copy for membership acquisition and renewal campaigns and membership pre-sales.
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Events and Individual Giving teams to create the monthly Membership newsletters.
  • Support the stewardship processes for JALC’s Membership programs.
  • Assist with scheduling and maintenance of department-wide email calendar.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining accurate constituent records in customer database.
  • Participate in department meetings, contribute skills and ideas, and produce high quality, detailed work.
  • Support the Research team in database maintenance and ad hoc research projects.
  • Provide basic administrative support tasks for the department as necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in an administrative support role. Experience in a nonprofit setting a plus.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical skills and keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills, with proven ability to multi-task and work under strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and take initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team player and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with customer support databases and email marketing software or ability to learn new systems and processes; familiarity with Tessitura and Wordfly desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of jazz music, with a willingness to learn.

Hours

  • Minimum of 20 hours per week. Flexible scheduling within business hours.
