Membership Manager

 

The Membership Manager is responsible for achieving the annual membership (Friends of Jazz) online/direct mail goals. The manager will oversee the development, marketing and management of this key membership program as well as the administration of the upper level donor programs, Chairman’s Circle and the Patrons Program.  He/she raises this annual operating support for Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) via direct mail, telemarketing, and online efforts, and is also responsible for the segmentation, data entry, fulfillment and acknowledgement of these gifts. An ideal candidate should be a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, a keen eye for details, and strong organizational skills.  

Responsibilities

  • Serve as front-line representative of JALC for Friend-level donors.
  • Develop, market, and manage all phases of Friend-level membership acquisition, segmentation, upgrades and renewals, including annual giving appeals, through direct mail and online campaigns.
  • Partner with the members of the Individual Giving team on the management of the JALC’s upper-level membership groups, Patrons Program and Chairman’s Circle.
  • Develop compelling programs, events and campaigns to increase membership and retention rates.
  • Create, write and implement specific membership marketing strategies including direct mail acquisitions, on-site recruitment/promotion, brochures, print ads and online incentives.
  • Create and monitor annual budget of revenue and expenses.
  • Produce all membership-related correspondence.
  • Establish master schedule of mailing and activities.
  • Supervise interns and volunteers assigned to Friends program.
  • Provide solid back-office support for mailing list and database management, gift tracking and annual revenue analysis. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in membership, telefunding and/or direct mail required.
  • Demonstrated track record of substantial program/revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software required. Experience in Tessitura preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong ability to work with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Knowledge of or keen interest in and appreciation of jazz.
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
