HR Generalist


We currently seek a dynamic HR Generalist to join our team. This individual will be a high achiever/goal-oriented professional who displays flexibility, active listening skills, and an exceptionally proactive attitude. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this position will support a broad range of business objectives that involve the implementation of HR strategic goals and initiatives.  The core areas of responsibility include talent acquisition, performance management, and benefits administration.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to foster strong business relationships with key stakeholders and be an advocate for employees. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact to staff and delivers outstanding customer service by answering inquiries, resolving and escalating issues, and providing guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Support the Human Resources team with the implementation of strategic and operational HR initiatives including the implementation of a new HRIS platform and JALC’s annual performance management process.
  • Administer JALC’s benefits program by communicating benefits information to employees, reporting changes, reviewing and reconciling invoices for payment, and resolving claims.
  • Partner with hiring managers to acquire talent for part-time and full-time positions. Responsible for sourcing and screening applicants, facilitating the interview process, onboarding new employees, and orientations.
  • Maintain meticulous human resource information system records, work closely with Payroll and Finance to communicate all changes and compile reports from database(s) as needed.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems, and employee programming.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred. SHRM SPHR or PHR certification a plus.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as an HR Generalist in a fast-paced organization.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Benefits Administrator.
  • Must be technologically savvy and have implemented and/or demonstrated proficiency in various HRIS systems including Paylocity, ADP, Sage HRMS and Benefits Administration, and employee self-service modules.
  • Must exercise extremely sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and maintain confidentiality in all interactions. 
  • Exceptional writing skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong ability to work with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Must have up to date knowledge of ACA reporting and requirements.
  • Must possess and demonstrate high personal standards, be extremely organized, provide exceptional customer service and be influential as a consultant to the client group.
