
The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a highly impactful position within Jazz At Lincoln Center (JALC). Whomever holds this position will have an opportunity to champion and build out JALC’s DEI programs, practices, and outcomes and help embed DEI into the JALC culture.
The Director will work with the CHRO and Leadership Team to coordinate implementation of the organization’s DEI Plan. The Director of DEI will report directly to the CHRO.
Responsibilities
- Serves as principal advisor to CHRO and Leadership Team on JALC’s DEI initiatives.
- Shapes the vision and direction for this new function/role as critical to JALC’s culture, workforce effectiveness and delivery of programs, in collaboration with HR.
- Works with CHRO, DEI Council, and Leadership Team to support implementation of the JALC DEI Plan.
- Works with Department Heads, HR, and other stakeholders to identify gaps and improve opportunities for a more inclusive workforce and audience across demographic identity groups.
- Leads efforts to identify and remove systemic obstacles to increasing DEI throughout JALC.
- Collaborates with external DEI consultants to design and present DEI-related workshops, panels, and other educational programs.
- Collaborates with internal and external resources to assess interest in launching, and if appropriate, help launch ERGs/Affinity groups.
- Represents JALC externally on topics related to DEI initiatives.
- Ensure that all internal policies and practices are in alignment with and support the organizations DEI efforts
Qualifications
- BS in related field; Masters preferred
- 3+ years leading DEI efforts in an organizational setting
- High EQ, clear communicator who can build trusted relationships
- Strong collaborator
- Ability to influence and persuade across multiple teams
- Strategic mindset and excellent project management skills
- Ability to view things from multiple perspectives.
