Assistant, Education (Part-Time)


The Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and customer service support to the Education Department along with accounting and production/programmatic support for the Youth Programs, Swing University, Public Programs, and special educational events.


The Education Assistant’s basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Vice President of Education and the department in general clerical/organizational duties including filing, scheduling appointments, taking meeting minutes, answering phone, processing corporate credit card reports etc.

  • Work directly with the Vice President of Education to provide additional administrative support and services including the preparation of committee and board materials, department calendars, research and the filing of documents. Ensure that the department is kept organized and up-to-date.

  • Answer all daily calls and emails to Education, providing each customer service issue with professional and courteous customer support, and directing them to the appropriate contact or resource, where necessary.

  • Support WeBop Manager with registrations and program preparation as needed.

  • Respond to WeBop email correspondence during class times, including make-up requests, trial class reservations, general questions and registration inquiries.

  • Serve as backup for the WeBop Manager during busy periods by answering Education Customer Service phone line and WeBop email.

  • Assist in set up of curriculum meetings once per term.


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant experience required. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Keen attention to detail and highly organized.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build new client bases. 

  • Knowledge of jazz history as well as the current jazz landscape.

Work Hours

  • Up to 25 hours a week
