Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis Celebrates Ornette Coleman, May 18-19

New York, NY (April 17, 2018) - The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis celebrates one of jazz's great original geniuses: composer, Pulitzer Prize winner, and alto saxophonist Ornette Coleman (1930-2015). 2017 Grammy Award-winning composer, arranger, saxophonist, and bandleader Ted Nash serves as music director for the evening, utilizing the Orchestra's many colors to bring this music to life. One of the all-time best melodists regardless of musical tradition, Ornette Coleman left a profound body of work that demands ongoing exploration. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis last played with the legend himself on the Rose Theater stage in September 2009 to sold-out audiences and critical acclaim.
