2017 Grammy Award Nominees Branford Marsalis Quartet with Kurt Elling

New York, NY (December 12, 2016) - Jazz at Lincoln Center brings together an unprecedented collaboration featuring the Branford Marsalis Quartet and Grammy Award winning vocalist Kurt Elling in Rose Theater on January 20-21 at 8pm. This special performance is the group's only New York City performance and follows Marsalis and Elling's recent Grammy Award nomination in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category for the debut release of Upward Spiral (Marsalis Music). The band will perform selections from the album, featuring fresh arrangements of Songbook staples, jazz standards, and standards-to-be from a diverse array of composers. This new artistic alliance promises to be an unforgettable showcase of both instrumental and vocal jazz expertise.

Lucky Peterson: Roots of Acoustic Blues

New York, NY (December 8, 2016) - Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2016-17 season continues exploring the blues tradition with Lucky Peterson: Roots of Acoustic Blues on January 20-21 in The Appel Room at Jazz at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, located on Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York. With deeply moving baritone vocals, jaw-dropping technique on the Hammond B-3 organ, and a dynamic, emotive presence on guitar, Lucky Peterson is perhaps the most powerful bluesman alive. In “Roots of Acoustic Blues”, he will explore the early styles at the core of the blues, exemplifying the music's honest optimism in the face of hardship.

2016 Big Band Holidays Tour

New York, New York (November 14, 2016) The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and special guest Catherine Russell will ring in the holiday season in 10 U.S. cities on the 2016 Big Band Holidays Tour. The world renowned ensemble will perform new arrangements of holiday classics both sacred and secular, from Billie Holiday's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" to favorites like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," each with a modern jazz twist.

Relaxed Performance of Big Band Holidays

New York, NY (November 10, 2016) On December 18, 2016 at 2pm, Jazz at Lincoln Center will proudly offer the organization’s first Relaxed Performance of its one-of-a-kind holiday concert, Big Band Holidays featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, music director and saxophonist Sherman Irby and guest vocalist Catherine Russell. This Relaxed Performance is designed to provide families with children or adults with autism, learning difficulties or other sensory and communication needs the opportunity to enjoy Jazz at Lincoln Center performances in a more relaxed environment.
