Every jazz fan has his or her favorite record with NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Cobb on drums, from Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue to John Coltrane’s Giant Steps. Tonight is quartet leader and pianist Emmet Cohen's official album release show with Jimmy Cobb, as well as Cobb's 88th Birthday celebration!

Branford Marsalis Quartet with special guest Kurt Elling

In an unprecedented collaboration, the Branford Marsalis Quartet welcomes vocalist Kurt Elling, a rare addition to the rock-solid lineup of Joey Calderazzo, Eric Revis, and Justin Faulkner. Both parties are known for a wealth of jazz knowledge and stylistic versatility. Elling has repeatedly proven his prowess for working with star instrumentalists and quartets, recently winning a Grammy Award for his tribute to the famed collaboration between saxophonist John Coltrane and vocalist Johnny Hartman.

This Django Reinhardt birthday bash is the Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola debut of Thunderswamp. this group will shed some new light on Reinhardt's timeless music, taking Django’s concepts into the 21st century with a vibe they likened to “Django Reinhardt meets Bill Frisell.”

As much a revolution as it was a movement, bebop ushered in the modern era of jazz and marked a decisive line between old and new.
