The series features talented new artists as well as groups from some of the area's great college jazz programs. Each performance is hosted by WBGO announcer Rhonda Hamilton.

Jazz at Lincoln Center collaborates with the Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT Music)—founded by renowned trumpeter Dave Douglas—to present today’s great young trumpeters. This year’s performance has been curated by trumpeter Keyon Harrold, a first-call musician not only in the jazz world, but also with platinum-selling artists in R&B, pop, gospel, blues, and hip hop settings. He recently received the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for the Miles Davis-inspired film Miles Ahead. Harrold will be joined by three extremely exciting trumpeters: Igmar Thomas, Leron Thomas, and last year’s FONT curator (and winner of the 2014 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition), Marquis Hill. This evening is not just for the hardcore trumpet fans, though; anyone interested in checking out some of the freshest sounds in the city should stop by.

The Festival of New Trumpet Music returns with today’s line-up on Tuesday, September 12. Learn more here

This event is part of our 8th annual Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival, showcasing some of the top rising stars of jazz alongside some of the artists who have contributed to making this art form what it is today. The Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival runs from September 1- October 1, 2017. View the full line-up here.
