Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra

West Side Story Revisited: A 60th Anniversary Tribute

The Manhattan School of Music has long been a fixture of the New York music scene and prides itself as one of the first conservatories in the United States to acknowledge the prime importance of jazz as an art form. The Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, led by multi-GRAMMY® Award nominee Bobby Sanabria, boasts two separate Latin GRAMMY® Award nominations, an exceptional accomplishment for a student ensemble that underscores its extraordinary pool of talent. Tonight they will present a new Latin jazz treatment of music from Leonard Bernstein’s timeless Broadway masterpiece, West Side Story. This unique tribute coincides with the 60th anniversary of Bernstein’s classic musical.
