“Broadbent and his brilliantly understated trio…[make] magic in their own sweet way... no-fuss music, made by exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled craftsmen…”

"One of the best living jazz pianists" - The Los Angeles Times

GRAMMY® Award-winning arranger, conductor, and pianist Alan Broadbent was born in Auckland, New Zealand. In 1966, at the age of 19, he moved to the U.S. with a DownBeat magazine scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Over the course of a 45-year career that began with an invitation to join Woody Herman’s band as pianist and arranger, Broadbent has collaborated with some of the most recognized names in jazz, including Irene Kral, Natalie Cole, Charlie Haden, Shirley Horn, and Diana Krall. In 2007, he was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit. His 2013 solo album, Heart to Heart, received a 5-star rating from DownBeat Magazine.
