Director, Data Analysis and Strategy

 

Position Summary:

The Director, Data Analysis and Strategy is responsible for the development of the JALC’s fundraising infrastructure and overseeing its operations, as well as a key strategic partner, helping to set and execute fundraising strategies working closely with the Associate Director, Development Operations and Major Gifts and the Prospect Research and Strategy Manager. This includes ad hoc reporting and data modeling as well as planning and gathering requirements for, and ultimately implementing, new systems, and technologies and business practices related to data management and analysis to enable JALC’s fundraising goals to be efficiently and effectively met. He or she oversees the computer systems for Development including solicitation segmentation, QC, data entry, application training and will help establish procedures and policy for data entry.

 

The incumbent will be a significant stakeholder representing Development on the Tessitura enterprise system throughout the organization. He or she will manage the database and represent the Development office on issues of data governance, and act to coordinate IS&T, Finance, Marketing and other areas on technology and efforts to continually enhance the use of technology to further and support the goals of fundraising. The incumbent will manage all aspects of technology development including establishing procedures for Tessitura and training of staff. This person is responsible for systems integration, process enhancements, and business continuity, we well as representing the Development Office professionally with vendors, consultants, and outside user groups as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Database Management; reporting, analysis, maintenance and training.

  • Production, review, and audit of daily, weekly, and monthly and other reports.

  • Project of ad hoc reports, management of Tessitura database for Development including establishing procedures and protocols.

  • Partner with other senior Development staff to help establish priorities and identify opportunities.

  • Represents Development throughout JALC on issues of technology, systems, and financial issues as they relate to segmentation, gift processing and posting.

  • Trains Development staff on technology, Tessitura in particular.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

                                       

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required and a minimum of four (4) years working experience in technology related to Development and/or Finance systems at a not-for- profit.

  • SQL experience required.

  • Proficiency with fundraising software required, Tessitura preferred.

  • Experience with financial aspects of gifts processing, receipting, and reporting tools, Business Objects preferred.

  • Extremely detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage numerous projects, and work independently.
